CBE Careers in Oil and Gas-
An Introduction to Careers in the Oil and Gas Industry

2006, GeoHistory Inc. created
a two part program for the Calgary Board of Education (the CBE) to
introduce graduating Calgary high school students to the various technical
(engineering, geology, geophysics) and support (legal, land, IT, human
resources, accounting, etc.) careers available in the Oil and Gas
Industry. Conceptualized and still sponsored by one of GeoHistory's
major corporate clients and the CBE's industry partner, Talisman
Energy Inc., this program runs each spring. After an initial half
day classroom session, students participate in a full day field trip
which includes an exclusive tour of a crude oil and natural gas processing
facility near Longview, Alberta - provided by Legacy
Oil and Gas Inc. Safety clothing and equipment for this tour are
provided by United
Safety Ltd. from Airdrie, Alberta. The field trip concludes with
a hike in the mountains near Canmore prior to the students returning
to Calgary. |
