As with the Oil and Gas Essentials Course, this one day oil and gas industry field training course is designed for:
a) oil and gas company non technical staff (legal, land, accounting, IT, human resources and administrative personnel) and less experienced technical individuals,
b) oil and gas industry support and financial personnel (petroleum service sector, banking, investment companies, lawyers, etc.) and
c) any individual or group interested in learning about the oil and gas industry.
The Production and Facilities Essentials Field Course begins in Calgary and proceeds to the Priddis / Turner Valley area for a morning of oil and gas industry drilling, facilities, processing and transportation essentials. Following lunch, participants stop at the historic Turner Valley Gas Plant for a tour of the site. After the Turner Valley Historical Gas Plant Tour, participants are transported to a modern operating crude oil and / or gas processing plant / facility for a tour of the operation and then returned back to Calgary.
During this oil and gas industry training course, participants learn the essentials about drilling, producing, processing, transporting and marketing crude oil and natural gas resources in Western Canada. Drilling topics include oil and gas well drilling technologies including horizontal drilling and well completion and stimulation technologies including hydraulic fracturing and frac technology. Production processes are discussed including artifical lift techonologies and unrefined and processed petroleum product transportation. Processing plant technologies include separator basics, dehydration units, compressors, heat exchangers, oil treators and absorption technology are discussed as is sour natural gas and sour crude oil (H2S) extraction, handling and processing. Participants will also gain insight into the impact changing technology has had throughout the years. By days end, participants will understand the basics of drilling, processessing, transporting and marketing crude oil, natural gas and other petroleum resources and products. The Production and Facilities Essentials Course departs from Calgary at 8:30 am and returns at 6:00 pm.
The Production and Facilities Essentials Course is a follow up course to the Oil and Gas Essentials Course. Though not essential, it is recommended that the Oil and Gas Essentials Course is taken prior to the Production and Facilities Essentials course.

The course begins at the Anderson LRT Station Parking Lot, McLeod Trail St SE, Calgary, AB at 08:15. Course participants load our luxury coach for a trip to our Priddis classroom. After our morning classroom sesseion. After lunch, we head for Turner Valley and beyond for a tour of the Turner Valley Gas Plant and a modern processing facility. We return back to the Anderson LRT Station Parking Lot for drop off, usually by 18:00.
